Leica MDa (Slotted Baseplate) (10913) - Camera
Manual focus M-mount 35mm camera released by Leica in 1966. The MDa is a follow-up to the original MD, now built upon the M4 instead of the M2. It is a specialty camera intended for scientific applications such as photomicroscopy. The body lacks the viewfinder, rangefinder, field frame selector, and self-timer. This version of the camera has a slotted accessory port on the base plate that accepts 4mm wide special plastic marker strips. This allowed the recording of data onto the negative. The area of the negative that records the subjects was made slightly smaller to accommodate the data strips. Metal body available in silver (10913).
